Description
This Nationally Recognised Work Safely at Heights refresher course is designed to review participants previously gained skills & knowledge to make sure they are still competent on all aspects of how to safely set up & work safely at heights in all situations.
This Work Safely at Heights refresher course is suitable for any person who has previously attained a Statement of Attainment for Working Safely at Heights.
This course is suitable for those either currently working at heights and are required to renew their certification to allow them to continue to work safely at heights (usually every 2 years) or those that are not currently working at heights or their Statement of Attainment is more than 2 years old.
The course covers all aspects of safe access to heights, legislative requirements, selection use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (including correct use and fitting of safety harnesses), along with practical exercises of setting up fall arrest systems and the rescue of a suspended casualty.
Our Height safety training includes an overview of legislation relating to working at heights, introduction to hazards and risks, correct use of harness and recovery procedure for fall arrest.

PREREQUISITES & ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS
To enrol in this course participants must:
- You will be required to provide evidence of your previous qualification in Work Safely at Heights or your registration will not be approved. Please send this evidence to our team at admin@iwpt.com.au when registering for this course.
- Be a minimum of 15 years of age
- Have a (USI)-Unique Student Identifier, please visit https://www.usi.gov.au/ if you do not have one
- Provide a copy of their photo identification (driver's licence, proof of age card, or passport)
- Demonstrate the ability to speak and write English to a basic level & have basic numeracy skills
- Be able to speak English well enough to carry out work safely with other people, please inform us upon registration if you feel you have any literacy or numeracy difficulties. Some reasonable adjustments to the course can be made to assist.
COURSE DURATION
- 5.5 Hours
PARTICIPANTS WILL NEED TO BRING
- Photo identification as listed in the prerequisites for this course
- Bring your food, free water, tea, coffee & biscuits are provided, you will be able to leave the facility during your lunch break if you wish
- PPE including protective footwear will be required to be worn for the practical training session, we have hard hats, high visibility vests, gloves & whistles available for use if required.
ASSESSMENT PROCESS
- The course will be a combination of theory & practical training where participants will be required to demonstrate industry skills & knowledge described in the units of competency included in this course.
- Students will be required to pass a written assessment to complete the course all critical components must be demonstrated and answered correctly
- Students will be required to show competence in a Practical Assessment. All performance tasks must be demonstrated correctly to be deemed competent.
- Recognition of Prior Learning can be applied for Practical Assessment only. (See RPL below)
COURSE OUTCOME
Upon completion, participants deemed competent will be issued with a:
- Wallet size competency card
- Statement of attainment for Work Safely at Heights - RIIWHS204E
- The certificate is nationally recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework and issued under the authority of the National Vocational Education and Regulator Act 2011.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
- RPL can be applied to the Practical Assessment tasks only. To qualify for the reduced duration of this course, students are required to complete an application for RPL for the performance assessment tasks for this unit.
- RPL will only be approved for students who are currently working safely at heights and can provide evidence via a third party reference.
- RPL applications will require third party referee (direct supervisor of the student) to provide evidence the student has met the performance assessment requirements for this unit within the last 6 months.
- Third Party Referees must also provide evidence of their Statement of Attainment for Working Safely at Heights.
- The RPL application can be requested via email with the course information when registering and will be required to be returned to IWP, complete with supporting evidence before a registration into this course will be approved.
