This Nationally Recognised HRW CO Training is designed to provide participants with the knowledge & skills required to obtain a high-risk work licence to Operate a Slewing Mobile Crane (Over 100 Tonnes).
This after-hours course is best suited to participants with previous industry experience, Due to the reduced course duration it is important that participants complete the pre-study paperwork before attending the course, this will be emailed once your registration has been approved.

- Application of Australian Standards and National Standards.

- Check controls and lifting gear
- Conduct a test lift

- Set up and dismantle a mobile crane
- Carry out special operations with a mobile crane
- Carry out multiple crane lifts

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?
- Have you driven a crane before or have any experience with Cranes?
- Having experience with cranes will help you with this advanced crane course. If you have no previous experience, we would recommend first completing the HRW C6 course prior to attempting the CO course.
- Do you hold any other HRW Crane Licence?
- Having previously held a C2 or C6 Licence would be beneficial before completing the CO course.
- Are you looking to gain this qualification as a part of your role at work?
- Recommended but not required is the HRW Licence to Perform Dogging (Dogging is an integral part of working with Cranes and would be beneficial to obtain before completing the CO course)
- Recommended but not required is the HRW C6 - Licence to Operate a Mobile Slewing Crane up to 60 Tonnes or HRW C2 - Licence to Operate a Mobile Slewing Crane up to 20 Tonnes (The C2 or C6 Course will provide you with important skills and qualifications to prepare you for the CO course)
PREREQUISITES & HRW LICENCE ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS
To enrol in this course participants must:
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Bring 100 points of identification on the first day of the course and on the assessment day. If using a birth certificate or a passport, it must be the original evidence of identity document, a photo of the document will not be accepted, a photo of a driver's licence, high-risk work licence, and Medicare card on the NSW service site on your phone is acceptable.

- Participant's identification must show a NSW residential address, if you are an interstate participant an exemption must be in place before you can undergo the assessment
- Inform IWP if you are an accredited SafeWork NSW licenced assessor, an exemption must be in place before you can undergo the assessment
- To allow for adequate time for an exemption to be granted please notify IWP during enrolment as we can assist with the exemption process.
- Demonstrate the ability to speak and write English to a basic level & have basic numeracy skills
- Be able to speak English well enough to carry out high-risk work safely with other people, please inform us upon registration if you feel you have any literacy or numeracy difficulties. Some reasonable adjustments to the course can be made to assist.
COURSE DURATION
- This course runs over two weeks
- 3 Evening Sessions per week (Theory)
- 1 Weekend Daytime Sessions (Practical Training & SafeWork NSW Assessment helod on the final day of the course)
PARTICIPANTS WILL NEED TO BRING
- 100 points of identification as listed in the prerequisites for this course
- Bring your own food, free water, tea, coffee & biscuits are provided, you will be able to leave the facility during your lunch break if you wish
- PPE including protective footwear will be required to be worn for the practical training sessions and the SafeWork NSW assessment, we have hard hats, high visibility vests, gloves & whistles available for use if required.
ASSESSMENT PROCESS
- The course is based on the requirements of the national standards for licencing persons performing high-risk work, the training will be a combination of knowledge, calculations & practical training where participants will be required to demonstrate industry skills & knowledge described in the units of competency included in this course.
- On completion of the training, an RTO assessment will be conducted, this assessment will identify if the participant is ready to undergo the SafeWork NSW assessment, or if further training is required.
- To pass the SafeWork NSW assessment, all critical components must be demonstrated and answered correctly
COURSE OUTCOME
On successful completion of the SafeWork NSW assessment, participants will be given a:
- Nationally recognised statement of attainment TLILIC0020 HRW Licence to Operate a Slewing Mobile Crane Over 100 Tonnes (CO), recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework and issued under the authority of the National Vocational Education and Regulator Act 2011
- A SafeWork NSW licence to perform high-risk work application form is to be lodged at Australia Post within 60 days of the completion of the assessment.
